DAVIE (CBS4) —
Need a manicure or pedicure? What about a haircut and color?
In today's tough times everyone is looking for a bargain. Davie resident Josie Wales said she got the deal of lifetime when she traded in her regular full service salon for the Aveda Institutes of Florida. It's a school for aspiring cosmetologists.
Owner Jim Petrillo told 4 Your Money reporter Gwen Belton they're able to offer discounted rates on services because they are performed by students under the watchful eyes of trained professionals. That's okay with Rita Patel who comes regularly for her ten dollar pedicure.
"That's why I'm here, that's why I keep coming. It's so cheap," said Patel.
Businesses is booming at the school with customers saving anywhere from 25 percent to 75 percent on the same type services they would get at a regular full service salon. First time customer Melissa Goodwin say a cut and color at her regular salon would cost her 200 dollars or more.
Prices at the school rage from 12 dollars for haircut, to 25 dollars for a facial and spa services.
And for customers like Rita Patel and Josie Wales, less strain on their wallets means more pampering they can afford in these stressful times.
The Aveda Institutes is located at 4186 University Drive in Davie.
