Rock the Runway: Aveda Institute Florida's Full-Tuition Scholarship Competition Winners are Announced
This year, in our annual Rock the Runway scholarship competition, future cosmetology and esthiology students competed for a chance to win a full-tuition scholarship to the Institute of their choice. Entrants shared their passion for the beauty industry and expressed their creativity and talents through written essays and video auditions. Each contestant impressed us with their own cutting-edge ideas and unique approach, making the competition very close.
We appreciate the substantial effort all of the contestants put forth. Congratulations to our winners, Agnes Brown from Aveda Institute Ft. Lauderdale/Miami, Ashley Harding from Aveda Institute St. Petersburg, Krystal Wallace from Aveda Institute Orlando and Melissa Defoor from Aveda Institute Tallahassee, and thank you to all who participated!

Students Take Top Honors in Tribeca Salon's Annual Student Competition
On March 8th, Aveda Institute St. Petersburg students competed in the
Tribeca Salon's student competition at the Czar night club in Ybor City.
St. Pete students took home top honors including: Best of Show (Mark Pacitti), 1st
place in the Avante Garde category (Anthony Sheldon) and 3rd place in Classic
Contemporary (Danielle Scheel). This is one of the many events that our students participate in.
1st place went to student Mark Pacitti (now alumni) with his model Educator Vanessa Sepa. His inspiration was McDonalds French Fires, Vanessa's favorite food, but even cooler was the fact that Vanessa's entire outfit was created by donated McDonald's Bags and French Fry Containers. This was to promote recycling.
2nd place went to student Anthony Sheldon (current Salon Concepts student) with student model Kerri Kulick. Anthony's inspiration was the Tampa Tradition of the Gasparilla parade and Festival which celebrates Tampa Bay's own unique pirate heritage. Kerri was adorned with Pirate booty that she threw out amongst the crowd, and they went wild for it just like at the parades.
Several other students participated in the competition and it was a great event and testimony to the awesome curriculum being implemented here at the Aveda Institute of St. Petersburg. We were very proud!
