We hear that question often, and to be honest, there are many differences between the two.
Barbering is the study of hair and its many types and configurations based on ethnicity, texture, volume and performance. Cosmetology is the study and application of beauty treatments, including hairstyling, skin care, cosmetics, manicures/pedicures and electrology.
Barber school
The emphasis of a barber school’s education is to teach the essentials of providing hair and skin services for men. They often learn to perform razor styling, hair cutting and coloring, blow drying, foam shaves, steam facials, and facial massages.
Beauty school
The emphasis of a beauty school’s education is to teach the art of cosmetology. Students often learn hair styling, hair cutting and coloring, skin care, makeup application, hair relaxing and restructuring, nail care, anatomy and physiology, and much more.

Aveda Institute Orlando participated in a community-wide blood drive…33 students and staff participated which can equate to saving 111 lives! I’m still amazed by that number. It’s so great to know that your time and contribution really does make such a big difference?
