As stated in a previous post, each year the Aveda Institutes Florida awards a scholarship to one lucky contestant, per institute, who exhibits exceptional skills in the field of cosmetology. Here is a video photo collage of some of the great images from this years competition.

First Green Globe-Certified Commercial Building in Florida

We are excited and proud to announce that the Aveda Institute South Florida has just been awarded THREE Globes from the Green Globes Building Institute for our commitment to environmental practices and energy management.

This certification positions the Aveda Institute South Florida as the first Green Globe-certified commercial building in Florida—and secures our claim of being the greenest beauty school in the world.

Green Globes is a revolutionary building environmental assessment and management tool that measures not only the environmental components of our building—such as solar panels, rainwater harvesting and indigenous landscaping plan—but which also evaluates the long-term effects of these components and the resulting decline in energy use. Green Globes also conducts a lifecycle assessment and evaluates the management programs that we have put in place to continually measure and improve our energy output. In short, this means that over the years, we will continue to reduce our environmental impact.

A beauty school education with Aveda Institutes of Florida also allows for hands on experience during some major productions. This allows for top level education and great material for portfolios.

During this behind the scenes clip, students and educators from the Aveda Institute South Florida worked on the hair styles for the official Miami Dolphins cheerleaders during a major photo shoot.

Aveda Institutes Florida Raises $20,000 for BCRF

We would like to say Thank You to everyone who supported our efforts for the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign during the month of Ocotber. Our schools raised $20,000 for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation through varioius fashion shows, t-shirt sales, bake sales, “pink” hair strand sales, the Walk to the Light Auction and much more.

Flashes of Inspiration

Aveda Institute St. Petersburg is honored to have been a part of the Flashes of Hope event that recently took place at All Children’s Hospital. Flashes of Hope is a non-profit organization that changes the way children with cancer see themselves through the gift of photography and raises money for pediatric cancer research. A select-few cosmetology students, and educators, assisted with the photo shoot, providing hair styles and makeup to family members and patients. We are grateful and privileged to be a part of such a moving experience. Included are some of the photos from the event.
