We are no stranger when it comes to helping our community and we proved it once again last month when our students from the Aveda Institute St. Petersburg participated in beach cleanups. The first took place in the heart of downtown St. Pete, at the serene Spa Beach. On the other side of town, close proximity to the Skyway Bridge, Blackthorn Park/Beach benefited from our efforts. The students engaged under the direction of Ocean Conservancy, a nonprofit with goals to promote healthy and diverse ocean ecosystems, and to oppose practices that threaten oceanic and human life. A true testament to life as an Aveda cosmetology student and professional.
Congratulations to the Aveda Institute St. Petersburg – winner of the First Annual Aveda Institute Artistic Educator Competition!!
Fifty one Aveda Institutes from around the world participated. Teams of three were judged on their ability to connect hair cut, hair color, and face color through a before and after photo shoot judged by Antoinette Beenders, Global Creative Director Aveda, and her Creative Team.
Aveda Institute St. Petersburg’s winning team consisted of: Ronnie Appel – cut, Mike Mercado - hair color, and Sherry Harper – face color. Congratulations to this talented team!
Winners will be recognized at the Aveda Education Summit in Minneapolis this October and will work with Antoinette Beenders during New York Fashion Week.
As stated in a previous post, each year the Aveda Institutes Florida awards a scholarship to one lucky contestant, per institute, who exhibits exceptional skills in the field of cosmetology. Here is a video photo collage of some of the great images from this years competition.
